Small Business Development Corporation (SBDC)
The SBDC provides a comprehensive range of information and guidance to new and existing small businesses in Western Australia.
It also delivers a significant export assistance program TradeStart for businesses ready to export.
A 4 hour workshop (Exporting Starts With an E) is held on a regular basis to explain the use of electronic media as an aid to exporting.
Department of Agriculture, Western Australia
Provides a range of export-oriented services and expertise including identifying key investment opportunities in the agricultural, food and fisheries industry with focus on value added processing, managing investment set-up and facilitating strategic alliances between food chain partners.
Department of Industry and Resources
Provides country and industry profiles, preliminary market research, in-depth statistical, market and economic analysis and information on accessing markets.
The Western Australian International Trade and Investment Offices

Federal Government
AusIndustry
Provides incentives for Australian businesses to foster investment and become more innovative and internationally competitive. Products cover a range of industry sectors and business needs delivered via grants, tax concessions, duty concessions and access to venture capital.
- Tradex provides up-front exemptions from customs duty and GST on imported goods intended for direct export or imported goods that are used, lost or wasted in the manufacture of other goods that are exported later on.
- Commercialising Emerging Technologies (COMET) program aids the commercialisation of innovative products, processes and services. A tailored package of support is provided, in the form of grants and advice.
Austrade
Export information and assistance for all exporters, including financial assistance and targeted support for small to medium businesses.
- TradeStart a package of free services designed to assist small and medium sized companies develop their business overseas and make their first export sale. Services include advice and information about getting into exporting, export coaching and assistance on the ground in foreign markets. Delivered by various state-based partners including the Small Business Development Corporation.
- EMDG The Export Market Development Grants scheme aims to encourage small and medium sized Australian businesses to develop export markets. EMDG reimburses up to 50 per cent of expenses incurred on eligible export promotional activities, less the first $15,000.
- Australian Suppliers Directory is about promoting Australian goods and services to overseas buyers through Austrade's website. It is a qualified directory of thousands companies. It's free to be listed and includes: your business's contact details, a description of your products and services, a marketing message about your business, a live link to your web site and your business logo.
Australia Post
Provides international courier, express post, air and surface mail services. Works in partnership with overseas postal administrations to provide customers with access to the world´s largest delivery network.
Australian Bureau of Statistics
The ABS is Australia's official statistical organisation.
Australian Customs Service
Manages the security and integrity of AustraliaĦs borders by detecting and detering unlawful movement of goods and people across the border. Provides detailed information on importing and exporting compliance procedures.
Australian Quarantine Inspection Service
AQIS provides inspection and certification for a range of animal and plant products exported from Australia.
Australian Taxation Office (ATO)
Online information on tax obligations for exporting, international trade and overseas investment is available under the “For Businesses” section of the site.

Department of Foreign Affairs and Trade (DFAT)
Works in the international arena to provide an open and equitable trading environment for Australian businesses, including the reduction of market barriers. Provides information and assistance to businesses and travellers.

Export Finance Insurance Corporation
The Export Finance and Insurance Corporation (EFIC) is a corporation of the Federal Government that assists Australian exporters to compete internationally by providing finance and insurance facilities to support their overseas contracts.
IP Australia
IP Australia is the federal government agency responsible for granting rights in patents, trade marks and designs. As well as providing direct services to users, IP Australia has formed many strategic relationships to help Australians benefit from their intellectual property both here and overseas.

Chamber of Commerce and Industry WA
Provides export assistance through an assessment of export potential and exporting requirements, identification of export markets and advice on the preparation of a suitable business profile to market your product or services overseas. Advice is available on export procedures, agency / distributorship agreements, documentation, shipping, regulations, finance payments, and worldwide business contacts.
International Business Council of WA
An umbrella body for bilateral, multilateral and ethnic chambers of commerce,
business councils and business associations that promotes the development
of international trade and business opportunities.
